Mini Apple and Blueberry Crumble

Hello!

Here is a Quick Photo Guide Recipe for

Apple and Blueberry Crumble

Here are some photos I snapped for the Baking competition with SCS butter.
This was my first entry which I put in lots of effort for. And the subsequent entries, I felt like it wasnt worth the trouble. hahahha therefore, You may find the photos like an advertisement for SCS butter.
Here are some of the ingredients you need for the Crumble.

For any basic crumble recipe.
All you need is
- Butter
-Sugar
-Flour

And of course whatever delicious fruity goodness you want your filling to be.

First of all, Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius

To make the crumble....

Rub in cold hard butter in flour until it represents breadcrumb or lumps of it.
(Just like in photo)
Pour in Sugar. I use a mixture of brown and white sugar.
& Stir Well.

To cook the filling,
Cut apples into whatever size you like.
I like my apples in cubes..

Brown some butter in a pan and cook apples over medium heat. Add in some brown sugar or honey to sweeten the apples. add in some juice over to keep it from burning.
Let it cook and soften. But not into mush. Add in Cinnamon powder. About a teaspoon for 2 apples
Do not cook blueberries with the apples because they cook very quickly.

Lay the cooked apples on a ramekin or pour them in a deep dish casserole.
Topped them up with crumble mixture.
Put them on a tray and into the preheated oven for about 25mins until the top is golden brown and delicious looking. Take them out to cool and devour them with some vanilla ice cream or yoghurt.

Hope you enjoyed them!

My Asswipe Experience at a Ridiculously Pricey Nails Parlour - Do Not Go!

For the past 6 years I was in SQ, I could only wear red, red and only red nails. -_-#

AND if you didn't realise, our lipstick has to be the same red that our nails are. On top of it, the red has to be in the range of approved red chart by our grooming guide - which is in the range of chilli red (or whatever you call that red as pictured above).
No pinkish-red, purplish-red or orangey-red; we just have to be uniformed.
(Thank goodness they finally changed the color chart -after like 10 years?- last year...to pinkish-red, still red but a good change.)

So, the only time I could bling my nails the way I would love to, was during my annual leave, But it is such a waste of money to bling for the one week's leave and then having to remove it the very next week when work resumes, especially if I were to go 3D stuff!

I absolutely adore 3d nail art, who doesn't??

The only time I splurged on 3d nail art during my 6 years in SQ was for my wedding in Nov 2012 (my 5th year flying).

These are my wedding nails(: But I have a love/hate relationship with the black ribbon on my index finger, cos every now and then I would forget about it and try to dig my nose and it crazy hurts cos it just didn't fit in my nostril any more!

They were inspired by this design in a Japanese magazine and I think the Chinese manicurist YanYan did a fantastic replica of it.

After my wedding I didn't go back to this nail place (even though I haven't finish the package I bought with them) that I did my wedding nails as I find it quite pricey. My wedding nails cost me around $450 for both gelish mani and pedi with 3D nailart. Plus I was still flying and didn't want to waste the leftover value from the package to do my nails.

But that day I was going through my wedding album and I saw my pretty wedding nails again so I decided to go back to that same nails parlour to finish up my remaining package. To my dismay, I realised that YanYan is no longer working here. :(

Not my leg here, I just wanted to show you how the nails parlour looks like.

Now this is my leg.

The nail on my thumb is broken into the nail bed and the manicurist persuaded me to do an extension as it will look nicer at the same length as the rest of my nails. She said it'll cost $12/nail extension, I don't know what's the market price but I really find it ridiculously pricey. Eventually I agreed to do it cos I wanted to finish off the package I bought here and never return again - since YanYan is no longer here anyway.

And the other reason I came back here was because I wanted to do 3d nail art but I didn't know their selection of designs to stick on the nails is so small that I ended up choosing the same ribbon I chose 2 years ago. IMHO, the rest are ugly, pity I forgot to take a photo to show you.

Guess how much they charge for sticking this ribbon? **drumrolls** $15/ribbon!!! Seriously??? I didn't know of the price before I decided which nail to do what color, thus I had to go ahead with the plan of having 2 of that ribbons. I didn't like having a whole nail pink...

At least I remembered to not have that ribbon on my index fingers this time haha! (Yes I dig my nose with my index finger. And yes I dig my nose.)
Anyway, I asked the manicurist if the ribbon would easily fall out and she told me no, however if it does fall out within a week, I could come back and she would stick it back for me FOC.

The basic pedicure cost $30 and an additional $10 for wanting 2 colors.

I couldn't remember how much they charged me for my gelish manicure. But they charged me additional $30 for choosing 2 colors, and an additional $1.50/nail for soaking off my previous gelish. I had 3 leftover gelish nails on each hand (which was from previous gelish manicure at another nails parlour which is super affordable and the reason why I want to boycott this one), which came to $9 for soak off of gelish.

In total my gelish mani with nailart and basic pedi cost me $181, so after deducting all the other nonsense as mentioned above, I suppose I was charged $60 for the gelish manicure...

Excuse my nicotine stained index finger, I have been a smoker of many years and am on the journey of quitting this vice. If you have any idea of how to remove that nicotine stain on my finger, let me know!

Here's a breakdown of how much they charged me and for what:
Basic pedicure : $30
Choose 2 colors for pedicure : $10
Gelish manicure : $60
Soak off 6 gelish nails : $9
Extension x1 : $12
3D ribbon stick on x2 : $30
Choose 2 colors for manicure : $30
TOTAL = $181

At the cashier, as the lady boss was calculating my total amount, she asked me if I wanted to top up with a new package. I said I don't think so and asked how much value was left in my remaining package and she told me $181. So I was naturally relived that I did not need to top up additional money at this place and that I have successfully and accurately finished my package. Yay!

***UPDATE*** 02 September
I'm so pissed off.
I did this nails session on the 27th August.
On the 29th August, the night before I was to depart for Seoul the ribbon on my right hand fell out.
On the 30th August when I was on my way to Seoul, partial of the extension on my thumb broke.
On the 31st August when I was shopping in Seoul, the rest of the extension on my thumb broke.
On the morning of 2nd September, when I came back to Singapore the ribbon on my left hand fell out.

I managed to salvage the ribbons that fell out and kept it. If I was doing something rough or accidentally bumping into my nails and the ribbons fell out, I wouldn't have been able to notice that the ribbon fell out and actually keep it. Fact is I was doing mundane things like playing with my phone when they fell so I was able to notice it immediately and pick them up to keep.

Thus on the evening of 2nd September, I went back to the nail parlour to get my nail art "repaired" as the manicurist had told me that I could go back to get it "repair" FOC if it happened within a week.

She was friendly and nice and "repaired" the damages for me. However, when everything was done, she said she will be charging me $10 for my nail extension "repair". I was dumbfounded and I said I thought she said she would do FOC for me? And she said she only said so for the ribbons, not the nail extension. I didn't want to create a scene so I paid for it, albeit unwillingly.

And then I noticed that 3 of the tiny crystals on 1 of the ribbon that she had glued back for me are still missing, so I asked how come she didn't change a new ribbon for me when she did notice that the crystals had fallen off too. She said the ribbons are considered sold to me, and they don't do exchange.

I wouldn't say that her excuses are unreasonable, but I will never go back to this place ever again. And I won't encourage any one of you to, either.

In case you want to know which one...

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I have been doing gelish manicure (without 3D design and at another nails parlour) for some time now, after I quit SQ and you will be shocked to know how much was cheaper they charge me as compared to Crystal Nailbar.

3 colors gelish manicure with french tip for only $25

Basic spa pedicure with 2 colors for only $25

2 colors gelish manicure with french tip for $25

No doubt my mom bought a $2000 package at this particular place, which was for 80 sessions of either gelish manicure or basic spa pedicure, which thus equivalates to $25 per session of either.
However, if you consider the fact that if you were to do 10 sessions of my above mentioned experience at Crystal Nailbar or 5 sessions of the design I did for my wedding nails, you would have easily spent $2000 in 10 months and 5 months, respectively.
Whereas the place where my mom signed her package at, can last her for 40 months (i.e. each month she does a session of pedi and a session of mani) or she can share the package with her daughters and friends, which she does!

If you are keen to know where my mom bought her package at, please comment. I will provide more details if I have 20 individuals who wants to know where. :p

My journey (back) to SLIMVILLE.

A little background story.
Last August (2013), I got pregnant and immediately quit smoking.
So you see, this is the equation I have worked out:

Quit Smoking with Immediate Effect = drastic decline in metabolism rate
Pregnancy = eat a lot thinking it's for the baby and a lot of pampering from family, especially hubby

Therefore, Quit Smoking with Immediate Effect + Pregnancy = Gaining 8 kg!!!
I'm not kidding, 8 bloody kg. (actually it ain't bloody, so 8 fatty kg?)
My super old joke used to be when I gain a kilo or two, I'll complain shit about it (as would most girls I guess), and then the "empathetic" listener (usually my hubby) will go "oh 2 kg only la, that's not a lot what.." Then I will rebut "2 kg leh, you know you go market and buy 2 kg of pork how big chunk is it?!"
I have been telling this joke from 2 kg to 8 kg.

This was 2007 when I was 21. #bikinibridge before it was even in.

This was 2012 when I was 26. Still slim but had a bit of tummy.

This is how I will look if I were to suck in my tummy.

This is also 2012, still sexy. HAHA!

Now to compare my face...2012 I had a sharp chin and a nice jawline.

This is 2014, I'm lucky my chin is sharp so sometimes my face doesn't look that round in certain angles...

But like here, you can see how round my face got in just 2 years. I think I accidentally ate up my jawline.

[If you wish to see how my body looks like now, scroll below...]

So then, after I lost my pregnancy and miserable with my 8 kg of weight gained and of course persistent persuasion from the slimming centre, I signed a slimming package in desperation last November.

I started going for fat freeze sessions, LPG, RF and some weird chinese cupping cum gwasha treatments until February 2014 when I was suddenly found to have some medical condition which required monitoring of my situation and escalated to a surgery. Thus I stopped my treatments from February till now (August). However, I would like to note that between the period of November 2013 - February 2014 when I was actively on these slimming sessions, there were no changes in my weight nor my proportions. They told me it was because I had too much water retention during my pregnancy and it is hard to be rid of as it is still too soon after the pregnancy.

Anyhoos, now that it's been more than a month after my surgery and I am not able to try to conceive for the next 4-6 months due to a preventive injection for my medical condition, I decided to continue with my slimming treatments.

So, here's me blogging on my experience.

My first session after the 6 months break was on 19 August, the lady who was appointed to help me with my treatment recommended that I do LPG to detox as I have not been doing my treatments for some time.

#butfirstletmetakeaselfie #nomakeup #dimlightingthuscantseeflaws

So this treatment requires me to wear a stocking body suit. The only holes of this one piece body suit is the neck hole and the 2 holes for my hands to come out, so imagine how hard it is to put on.

This is the machine that does the LPG.

OH wait. I suppose you want to know what does LPG stands for and what does it do?
Here's what I googled:
Treatments are administered with the new Ergodrive head, which is equipped with LPG's patented, independent motorised rollers. The ROLL'Up, ROLL'In and ROLL'Out action gently yet intensively conditions skin tissue to eliminate fat deposits, revitalize blood and lymphatic circulation (i.e. ROLL'Up), and reactivate lipolysis (e.g. ROLL' In action is responsible for more than 70% of the fat elimination). With the multiple rotational differentials of the ROLL modalities, LIPOMASSAGE is also able to stimulate the collagen and elastin production and firm slackening skin (i.e. ROLL'Out).

This is the rollers as mentioned in the write up, it pinches my fats/flesh/skin as it is rolled around my body - arms, back, thighs, buttocks. (She did not touch the stomach area as that is where my surgical scars are.)

I guess you also want to know how fat I got with 8 kg.

Here you can see my shapeless hips which will morph into muffins top when I wear my panties/shorts/skirts.

Thank goodness for having boobs, at least. Oh I am covering my tits in the photos as the body suit is super sheer and they gave us measly pieces of tissue to act as nipple tape.
I also desperately need to get rid of my flabby and non-deflatable tummy. I know you are thinking, it doesn't look that bad...HELLO, you think I'd put how uglily flabby and fat I really am on a blog? Of course I chose the best few of the fat photos to show la! Fat also must fat prettily what.

During the 1 hour session, the lady had to operate the machine at the lowest and mildest level (or so she claimed) as I was squirming in pain. I tried to tolerate as best as I could as I did not want her to turn the machine to the lowest as I wanted to get the full benefit out of it. But every time I squirmed a little, she would ask me if it's too painful and she would lower the power. It's not easy to not squirm as it felt like 5 knuckles pinching all my sensitive parts (inner thighs, inner arms, etc) at each point.

The next day after the session, I had muscles aches on my thighs and buttocks, it felt like I had done some squats...but then again, I did climb up 8 storeys to my home cos I wanted to work out a little after the slimming session.

Almost a week after the session, I have weighed myself and looked at myself in the mirror, I don't see any significant changes yet. I guess I will need to keep up with my sessions to know.

So for now, I need to get from this figure back to...
This figure.
(By the way, please don't say I look fine. I know I'm not that huge but I would like to go back to how I used to be...)

So, till next session then!

A moment of glory. ヽ(^。^)ノ

So my very random Japanese friend Kako chan googled "SQ stewardess" in Japanese and found my photo in a Japanese guy's blog.
Post was dated 2010 and the guy was a passenger on board my flight Singapore to Nagoya.
I was laughing quite hard when Kako chan first showed me cos of the stark difference I look 4 years ago and now. Read: 2010 not fat, 2014 fat.
I miss every moment of crew life but I can't say I would like to go back into that line.
Seeing my photo in this guy's post and his caption makes me feel good that I made the guy's flight, just like how I feel whenever passengers thank me for the flight as they disembark.

Comment if you would like to have the link to the guy's post(:

My Sister Is A Liar.

First of all, she doesn't only use make up to cover her flaws...

Well, that's basically it.

What she is not aware of is how very much I actually am jealous of her.
I mean look at her when she was a baby (she's still and always will be a baby to me, btw).

Who wouldn't love that face?!

And then she grew up and look like this without make up.

Like Korean only.

(Non-plastic ones, of course.)

It was sweltering hot and humid in Bali and everyone was perspiring and sticky. But somehow, she looked like this, as though it was Spring time in Japan.

WTF right, no make up?!

Oh wait, she wasn't lying about wearing my clothes, BUT she still does!

My cheapo $10 Supre dress I got from Sydney.

My $300 French Connection coat I bought in Manchester.

My $200 grey Zara coat (which she wore inside the white coat but I can totally recognise it anywhere) I bought in London.
And my $50 Kate Spade earmuffs I bought in Houston.

EVEN MY WEDDING DRESS BEFORE MY WEDDING DAY!

But it's OK, I mean look at how incredibly sweet and cute she is, how can anyone get upset with her - for long?

Make birthday wish also so sweet.

Just makes me wanna pitch her chubby cheeks!

She's so cute she's got this bunny named Raisins that she brings to everywhere and does everything with.

Like cutting her birthday cake...

She even made same outfit for Raisins.

And the thing I love most about her is that she is fabulously funny with astonishingly randomness.

Oh btw, that's my dress too, but not the carpet she's wearing as a cape while doing the Qantas kangaroo jump with a beaver face.

I don't even know how to caption this photo.

Thing is, we have pretty much the same wave length in our sense of humour.

Posing with dragonfruit on Chinese New Year and we can't even remember why.

Probably not as funny to you as it is to us.

And I guess she is right about me loving make up more than she does.

#Ineedmakeup!

But looking like a plain Jane beside me (though I absolutely don't agree her description of herself) isn't always a bad thing...

I went a little too far with my eyelashes here.

Yeah so no make up nicer or having spiders on the eyes look nicer?

And I don't think we look all that different.

Especially when I haven't got any make up on!

See, we look quite alike here too.

I would like to end the post here as I know there will be more opportunities for you to get to know us more.

That's all folks!!! LOL

OK, I shall end the post with a prettier photo hehe!

❤ Vera
