So my girl friend who is 3,912km away from me has requested me on whatsapp to teach her how to apply eyelash. Yes, WHATSAPP. And it ain't the first time, I even flew to where she is to teach her how to do it once.
Ok la friend, do for you la!
(I got this photo off eBay.)
I would say #06,07,13,10 are more on the dramatic side and #01,03,05,16,20 are more natural...but I personally don't like the look of straight ones like #01,03,09. So there are a lot of different types of lashes to choose from.
And I mean ALOT.
Sometimes the thick ones may actually look really nice on your eyes so you really need to trial and error.
This is my favourite eyelashes from Japan, but it's rather flimsy, if I don't pull it out properly it'll break like the bottom one. These are around 1,500yen for 5 pairs if I didn't remember wrongly.
This is my other favourite when I want to have the minimal natural look but don't need to buy Japan brand, this style is very common.
I swear by this eyelash glue, it is the stickiest I've ever found. Like if you wear your eyelashes with this and go to Six Flags for a couple of their scariest rides, your eyelashes will still be intact.
But not many places sell this and I heard there's even fake copies of this...I bought this for S$9.90. I suppose you can use other glue of your preference to your convenience as well, cos I don't think this brand is easily available unless you don't mind taking the chance and ordering it online.
Once you have your eyelashes and eyelash glue, you may need to trim your eyelashes according to the length of your eyelids. If you have big long eyes and your eyelashes fit your eyelids fine then skip this step.
Hold the eyelash to your eyelid as close to your real lashes as possible, from the inner most corner of your eye to the outer most corner, then trim off the rest.
Like this:
Please don't trim it while holding it on your eyelids!
I usually trim off on both ends using "agaration" (approximating).
You don't have to make sure that both sides of the eyelashes are of equal lengths cos your eyelids will not be of exact equal proportions anyway.
3) Once your eyelashes are ready, apply the glue on the eyelashes.
Don't apply too much glue as it takes longer time to dry and during which, it may re-adjust itself away from your real lashes. Also, blow it a couple of times after you apply the glue, before placing it on your eyelids so that the glue doesn't get into your eyes.
4) Applying the eyelashes onto your eyelids.
If you don't intend to apply eyeshadow, then just apply the falsies straight after foundation (and eyeliner and concealer, if necessary).
If you have short and sparse eyelashes like me (which is the reason why I need to apply falsies), then you may skip mascara and crimping your real lashes with eyelashes curler. But if you have anything more than that for your real lashes, I would advice you to at least crimp your lashes with a curler before applying the falsies so that it looks more natural.
So if you are going to apply eyeshadow/eyeliner, do these first, then glue your falsies on top of the eyeliner as close to your real lashes as possible.
5) Crimping your falsies with your real lashes. So like I said, if you have really short and sparse real eye lashes in the first place -like me-, you may skip this step (if you're lazy - this is for you Okky).
The other reason why I skip this step is because I find that crimping my falsies means that my falsies doesn't last as long as it usually does. (I will come back to this shortly).
So to recap, I have also found this from Google too. (:
This is me, left side with eyelashes and coloured contact lens, right side without. You can see how falsies are important to me!
Personally, I re-use my falsies up to 10-15times, I'm not sure if there are people who use and throw it every time. But for hygiene purposes, please make sure you clean your falsies after each use - like gently rubbing the excess dried off glue after removing from your eyelids and rinsing them with water.
I find that when I crimp my falsies, they tend to go out of shape faster, thus I could only use them up to 4-6times instead.
This guide is base on my own experience from applying falsies for the last...10 years..? However, I'm not a professional and I have never had any professional make up training except for the short grooming course I had in SQ. Thus there may be things that I have been doing wrong, and if I do, feel free to let me know! (: Also, comment for any questions!
And of course, if you find this post useful, please help me share(:
