Honeymoon Part 48; Frankfurt / New York 25-31 August 2013

This was an impromptu trip with my hubby last year when I found out I was preggy and had to quit my job as a cabin crew. I had an un-utilized free air ticket in 2013 (cabin crew are entitled a free economy class air ticket per year) so I decided to quickly utilize it (cabin crew who quit due to pregnancy can utilize the unused free ticket within 6 months after quitting).

I wished I had a longer stay in New York cos there is so much to see/do/eat there (and it's only my 3rd time in my 6 years of flying career going to New York). But I had to follow my hubby's trip plans and as he was only going Frankfurt for 1.5 days and then to New York for just 2 days, our time in both cities were really short!

SIN - FRA 25 August 2013 1355 - 2040
FRA - JFK 27 August 2013 0830 - 1100
JFK - FRA 29 August 2013 2055 - 30 August 2013 1045
FRA - SIN 30 August 2013 1235 - 31 August 2013 0650

So the reason why I have only gone to New York 3 times in my flying career is because I was not trained for the 2 fleets of aircraft that used to go to New York. They are:
  1. direct flight by 345 extra long range aircraft to EWR airport
  2. transit flight in Frankfurt by 744 jumbo to JFK airport
It was until 2012 when the 744 aircraft was phased out, that the Frankfurt - New York route was taken over by the 380 airbus that I got rostered my first flight to New York end of 2012.

We stayed in Marriott when we were in Frankfurt and we used to call it the "Christmas that came too early" hotel as the room's carpet was red and the armchair was green and the design was really out-dated. But I head they have renovated the hotel and the rooms no longer look that awful.

There is a dinosaurs museum within walking distance from Marriott: Senckenberg Natural History Museum (Naturmuseum Senckenberg). We only took photos outside as our time in Frankfurt was really short.

And we needed more time to EAT! ;p

Freshly grilled German sausages are a must-try though we love the ones we had at the top of Zurich more than these.

Shopping in Frankfurt.

Preggy and craving for coke so hubby bought me this that read "caffeine-free" cola...

Worst cola I ever had.

This is the cheapest Tiramisu we have ever had, 3 euros for such a big box and taste great too!

OK, I don't have much for Frankfurt as you can see, I was only there for 1.5 days, I touched down on the night of  25th and headed to New York in the early morning of 27th.

So here's New York and the many yummies we had in New York!

My crew friend Joanna bought me a box of mini cupcakes from Melissa when we met up with her in New York! #SOMUCHLOVE

Joanna brought us to a famous Ramen joint in New York and me likeyyy!

My hubby's Soyu Ramen.

There was some kind of event in town that day and people were painting their naked bodies in public.

Sorry I just  couldn't stop taking photo of that woman, she had some pretty intricate designs on her body... ;D

But ya'know it's a free country man!

Time past really quickly in New York with all that shopping and before we knew it it was nightfall and we stopped for a light dinner.

Naughty hubby smoking outside the restaurant...

Then back to the streets of New York to shop!

This is why we had a light dinner, we were saving our tummy space for - Shake Shack!

IMO, Shake Shack has the best burgers in the entire world. It is only available in New York, Dubai and London.

Xiang ka pager?

We tapao (packed) burgers back to hotel to munch.

I was 8 weeks here and was told that I'm "big" for just 8 weeks. I think it was mostly bloating and I felt very gassy all the time.

We had breakast at Stardust the next morning.

Ellen's Stardust Diner is a retro 1950s theme restaurant located on the southeast corner of 51st Street. The diner has singing waitstaff who would sing while waiting on tables!

My eggs with corned beef and potatoes.

My hubby's eggs and bacon.

Our friend's overloaded plate.

Went shopping for baby stuff after breakfast... #ootd

We had lunch at the rather disappointing Japanese restaurant...the place was run by Japanese but the Sashimi...just was't good. :C

Even the deep fried prawn head was badly done.

On the early morning of the 3rd day: I love breakfast in the States and I never ever miss breakfast in the States cos it'd be dinner time in Singapore.

So it makes complete sense to order steak for breakfast!

We had lunch at Azusa to make up for the bad Japanese food we had the day before, where the Sashimi was wayyyy better and was around the same price.

I just crave for Japanese food all the time when I was pregnant...actually my friends and family will say I crave for Japanese food even when I am not.

But anyway in case you want to know Azusa's address...

I don't have much photos as I usually shop too much in the states. So I shall end the post with my 2 favorite buys in the States:

 1) Super pretty, cute and comfy undies from American Eagle!

2) Super fragrant bathgels and handsanitizers from Bath&Bodyworks!

2 days in New York is really not enough! I hope I will get to see New York again... :'(
